What a year!!
We all have times in our life that stand out above the rest. Moments in time that we will never forget because of the people we are with, the memories we've created or because of our accomplishments.
2016 was an incredible year for me on so many levels and I am grateful for the experiences, the memories I created with the people I love and for being able to achieve some significant goals.
It was really hard to narrow my list down to just 10 things because so much has happened so I was a bit creative in the way I bulked them together.
Note that this isn't in any particular order.
1: Exceeded a 100 lb weight goal, got into the best shape of my life and took a nutrition class!
2-Survived my son's graduation from high school, his transition to college and his first semester as a Freshman. What you should know is that my son chose to go to college 14 hours away from home which totally freaked me out. My two biggest fears were that 1) he'd get sick or 2) there would be some sort of natural disaster and I wouldn't be able to help him. The bittersweet news here is that both happened his first semester away and he handled them both like a pro. I raised him well and have all the confidence that he can handle most anything that life throws his way. If he can't, I'm on the other end of the phone or just a plane ticket away.
3-Junie, my 15 year old daughter got her permit this year and she started driving. This was a huge milestone for both of us. It meant that she'd be driving me around town for a change and that my baby is growing up.
4-Robby. He is everything I've ever wanted in a partner. He's my love, my dearest friend, my confidant, my coach, my biggest supporter and my sweetest everything.
5-Enjoyed some great trips to Puerto Rico, Denver, Florida, Savannah and Houston with the people I love most in this world.
6-Home renovations: Thanks to Robby my kitchen is almost done! But this year I sprung for new appliances, countertops and new lighting through out the house. It's all blingy and totally me!
7-Sexy Godiva: I finally got a new car that I humbly named Sexy Godiva. She's the color of the Godiva chocolate box and has gorgeous lines. I negotiated a kick ass deal and I'm proud of myself. This was the first time I did this solo, so it was pretty significant for me.
8-Maroon 5- Roadtripped with my daughter Junie to see our favorite band. It was an incredible night and we had a blast!!
9-I kicked up my workouts and started running. I participated in 2 5k's this year. In March the kids and I did The Color Run--it was fabulous! We finished in 45 minutes and I ran most of it. In December Robby, Junie and I (Josh was at school) did the mistletoe run. We finished in 37+ minutes and I ran the whole course. It was awesome!!!
10-Combined my love of writing with my desire to help others and launched Healthy Momma Bee!
This year was one of my best yet and I attribute it to being in the right mindset. For years I felt guilty doing things for myself because I felt like it took away from my kids.
What I learned is that while I focused on me, I included my kids, friends and loved ones in many of my activities. Instead of going out to eat, we work out together. Rather than watching TV, we spend more quality time together.
I've learned that I'm worth it. This realization makes my life so much sweeter.
I have some pretty cool adventures and some new goals planned for 2017! Looking forward to it!!
Happy New Year!!!
Bee healthy. Bee happy.
